What plowing in Warren actually involves

Warren is a six-by-six-mile square of postwar housing, and the driveways reflect it: short, narrow, single-car in the older southern sections around 8 and 9 Mile, wider as you move north toward 14 Mile. How Warren handles snow: Warren’s Department of Public Works maintains 316 miles of local roads and 65 miles of major roads. The city lists its normal clearing time for all city roads as 24 hours after a storm ends, and side streets are plowed once more than 4 inches has accumulated. The salt barn holds 5,000 tons, and the city uses about 10,000 tons in an average year. Owners or occupants must clear sidewalks within 12 hours after snow or ice falls, or clear a path where there is no sidewalk (Sec. 34-60), and violators can be cited and charged if the city removes the snow.
