What snow removal costs in Macomb County (2026)
Real numbers, including ours, and an explanation of why two quotes for the same driveway can differ by forty dollars.
The range across the county
Per-visit residential plowing in Macomb County generally runs somewhere between $35 and $75 depending on the company, the driveway and how far out of the way you are. Seasonal contracts for a standard residential driveway commonly land between $400 and $1,200 for the winter - several local companies advertise seasonal packages starting around $1,195.
That is a wide range for what looks like the same service, and the spread is mostly explained by four things.
What actually moves a snow quote
- Size, if the company measures it. Many do not - they quote a flat rate by eye. That means small driveways subsidise large ones.
- Route density. A contractor with twelve customers on your street can charge less than one driving out to you alone. This is the single biggest hidden factor.
- Where you are in the county. Armada Township and Washington Township reliably take more snow than Warren or Eastpointe. More events means more visits.
- What is actually included. Does the price include the ridge the city plow leaves across your apron? Repeat passes on a long storm? Walks? Salting? Two quotes covering different scopes are not comparable.
Per-visit versus seasonal
Per-visit means you pay for what happens. Mild winter, small bill. Hard winter, larger one. Transparent, and what most homeowners choose.
Seasonal is one number for the whole winter. You trade a little expected value for certainty. Anyone telling you seasonal is always cheaper is selling rather than advising - over a run of average winters the two are close by design.
Michigan averages roughly 12 to 16 plowable events a year in this part of the state, but the variance is enormous: some winters produce eight, some produce twenty-five. That variance is exactly what a seasonal contract is for.

Being straight about how that lands: the $70 minimum covers everything under about 1,120 square feet, which is most one- and two-car driveways in this county. So most residential customers pay exactly $70 per visit. Where per-foot pricing genuinely helps you is on larger properties - the long rural drives up in Ray and Lenox Township, and the three-car-plus-turnaround driveways in the newer Macomb Township subdivisions, where a flat-rate contractor either overcharges or will not quote.
Questions worth asking any snow contractor
- What is the trigger depth, and do I have to call you?
- Do you clear the ridge the city plow leaves at the end of my driveway?
- What happens on a two-day storm - do you come back, and is that extra?
- Is salting included or separate?
- How many properties are on my route, and what time do you expect to reach me?
- Are you insured, and can I see the certificate?
That last one matters more than people think. An uninsured contractor who damages your garage door, your apron or your neighbour's mailbox is a problem that becomes yours.
